MIAMI (AP) -- John Joseph Houghtaling the inventor of the ''Magic Fingers Vibrating Bed,'' which brought weary travelers 15 minutes of ''tingling relaxation and ease'' for a quarter in hotel rooms across America during its heyday as a pop culture icon in the 1960s and '70s died Wednesday at his home in Fort Pierce.

Tinkering in the basement of his New Jersey home, Houghtaling invented the ''Magic Fingers'' machine in 1958. ''Put in a quarter, turn out the light, Magic Fingers makes ya feel all right,'' Jimmy Buffett sang in ''This Hotel Room.''

You know, I just can't help but wonder if they're going to retrofit his coffin with one. You think?

Hotel Missoni Edinburgh

Attending the Edinburgh's Fringe Festival? If your answer if yes you're in luck because after many years of planning, Hotel Missoni Edinburgh is set to open in June. The 136-room hotel is a collaboration of Rosita Missoni, one of the brand's founders, and The Rezidor Hotel Group. The hotel's palette is officially described as black and white, with splashes of color throughout.

Next up for the Hotel Missoni brand? A property in Kuwait, slated to open in Fall 2009.
