Yellow Emeralds

Pear Shaped Heliodor Earrings by Paolo Costagli

I've held a long love affair with Heliodor, often referred to as the "Golden Emerald" as they are both from the Beryl family of minerals. Now, I don't happen to have any Heliodor in my collection as of yet since I've always been waiting for "the one" to jump out at me and say I'm yours. These are screaming to me that they are indeed "the one " but alas, at $9,400- I'll have to keep searching for another.

That reminds me, I need to pick up a lottery ticket...

I Caught A Mouse & A Rat

Usually it's my cats that are on the hunt but when I spotted these over Trend de la Creme (Jill the proprietress does a phenomenal job so please visit and visit often) I just had to shamelessly swipe them to share with you.

The Kaiser making his appearance as Karl Lagermouse and Anna "The Rat" Wintour come to us courtesy of the fantastic work of Anna courtesy of The House of Mouse. Isn't the detailing, right down to the bugle bead as the hardware on Anna W.'s Birkin Bag, fantastic? I can't get over how realistic they look! The House of Mouse doesn't just specialize in fashion icons she's got a whole array of mice characters to choose from.

I swear if I look long enough I can see Karl's whiskers twitching...

Nursery Color Palette Inspiration

I just spotted this picture over at My's fantastic blog Tha Hotness (I insist you check it out).

I really love this color palette. I'm thinking I could do a lighter background inspired version of these colors for the nursery. I've been hedging doing anything with the room since nothing's really gotten me excited thus far. I'm just not loving the cutesy-cute kiddie stuff that's out there. However, I do have to keep in mind the room IS for a baby after all so I guess I should make it somewhat appealing to and child friendly. Oh the dilemmas...

So thanks again My for getting my creative juices flowing.

Hobo Chic

Efram Hobo- Tory Burch

I think most of you know how much I loathe those stupid TB Flats with the giant "Look World! I bought Tory Burch Flats!" medallion on them. However, this bag is a different story. First off, the hardware is tastefully done. I love the muted soft gold on the sides and the leather looks so smooth and supple I just want to touch it. Click on image for details.

Artist- Greg "Craola" Simkins

Greg Simkins Solo Exhibition: "The Pearl Thief"

Exhibition runs from November 3rd to November 25th, 2009

Gallery 1988: Los Angeles

7020 Melrose Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90038
www.gallery1988.com

ARTIST STATEMENT:

After years of chasing the monsters under his bed, Greg “Craola” Simkins has reemerged into the everyday world to create images of what he saw in those forgotten lands. Simkins didn’t always use a paintbrush to display this mob of characters, but spent many of his early years filling sketchbooks with images that were later spray-painted on walls, and finally found their way onto canvases. It is his careful weaving of pop culture, the old masters, nature, carnival kitsch, and (most importantly) his warped imagination, that makes Greg Simkins a sought-after surrealist painter today.
