Inexcusable

We interrupt this blog for a moment in extreme cruelty and douchebaggery...

"I approved a mission over New York, I apologize and take responsibility for any distress that flight caused."
-Louis Caldera Director of the White House military office

“First thing is, I’m annoyed – furious is a better word – that I wasn’t told. Why the Defense Department wanted to do a photo-op right around the site of the World Trade Center catastrophe defies imagination. Poor judgment would be a nice ways to phrase it, but they did. I also think that once they had told us, we should have done a better job. Had I known about it, I would have called them right away and asked them not to. It is the federal government and they can do in the end what they please, but I would have tried to stop it. I don’t know there’s a lot else to say other than they shouldn’t have done it.”

- NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg who said he was not apprised of the flyover until his BlackBerry started buzzing this morning (4/27/09) with messages from people asking if he knew what was going on.

I couldn't believe this when I saw the news this morning. I was in NYC for 911 and it was nothing less than horrible and I can't even imagine how this photo opp got as far as it did without someone saying, maybe this isn't such a good idea? Good for Bloomberg for standing up to the jerks behind this!

This is just mean. I'll never forget the visceral reaction I felt when I watched 9/11 live on TV.
