Nursery Color Palette Inspiration

I just spotted this picture over at My's fantastic blog Tha Hotness (I insist you check it out).

I really love this color palette. I'm thinking I could do a lighter background inspired version of these colors for the nursery. I've been hedging doing anything with the room since nothing's really gotten me excited thus far. I'm just not loving the cutesy-cute kiddie stuff that's out there. However, I do have to keep in mind the room IS for a baby after all so I guess I should make it somewhat appealing to and child friendly. Oh the dilemmas...

So thanks again My for getting my creative juices flowing.

I love it!

I did a little of the cutesie - pink, white and chocolate brown. But all the bedding, rocker and crib were DwellStudio for Target. My only two "don't even go there" rules were, NO princess crap and NO Winnie the Pooh...

Hey, thanks for the mention. I was using feed burner for the RSS feeds but it wasn't working correctly so I decided to shut it off and now everything is back to normal. :)

ok, here's my two cents..when you go ahead and accept the fact that the nursery is for you and not for her you can get on with decorating it. trust me when i say that she will not care two diapers full of poo what it looks like. don't believe all the hype about primary colors either. decorate it for you! just make sure you have the 3 essentials every nursery needs: a crib (though 50 percent chance she won't see it til she's 2), a glider/rocker/comfy chair for you to nurse (though if you're like me you will nurse everywhere BUT the nursery and she will be brought TO you for feedings by your husband who will feel like he is useless so..let him) wherever you happen to be with a boppy on your lap (get one of those btw)...trust! and third a changing station where you most likely will do all of your changing b/c you will risk getting infant poo (which is grosser than any poo you have ever seen, again...trust!) everywhere.
so to sum up: a crib, a rocker, a changing station. once you have those consider the rest of the nursery's decor all you! also good to know...you will change this room around a million different times before she is 3.
hope i don't come off too twat-ish but it really is for the most part all pretty true. and i would love to help pull some stuff together for you with my new polyvore skillz. free of charge of course.

Wow, I love the color palate and that room would make an incredible nursery. I couldn't have had one that looked that sophisitcated and loungy because I would have been tempted to lay around on that pretty sofa and sip cocktails.

LOVE the birds and green in the background (the wallpaper, mural, whatever) and the purples and golds - so gorgeous.

My favorite modern baby blog (although it is West Coast :-) ) is the818.com. She did bright green for her baby girl room and modern furniture, and it turned out so nice without being overly cutesy.
