In the Po(e) House

The city that named it's NFL team The Ravens in honor of Edgar Allan Poe has cut funding to the Edgar Allan Poe House.

Baltimore officials have ordered the city's Committee for Historic and Architectural Preservation to implement a plan to operate the museum without using public funds by July 2012.
The museum, in a row house where Poe lived from late 1832 or early 1833 until 1835, operates on an annual budget of $85,000.
The Edgar Allan Poe Society of Baltimore addresses the issue on it's website

That's really too bad. It's not like Baltimore has a lot of iconic culture to fall back on. But it seems in the U.S. the arts are always what government cuts back when they need money.
