New York, New York a Helluva Town...
I love New York. My husband and I are both New York natives. He was born and raised on The Lower East Side of Manhattan (or the L.E.S. as it's known). I was born in the burbs but clocked the majority of my years in Brooklyn.
We often watch old films that were shot in New York and play a game where we "guess that location". It's a challenge as this is a town that is constantly evolving. Buildings go up, store fronts come and go but usually you can pick up something in the architecture that's a tip off. My husband usually wins. There is one location however that few people in the world wouldn't recognize, Times Square.
Imagine how happy I was when I found these coasters. Each one depicts an image of Times Square, as it appeared in each of four decades, 1920, 30, 40 and 50 and are embedded into tumbled Botticino marble.
I'm picking up a few sets. I have a few parties coming up this summer and I think they'd make the perfect host/hostess gifts. While 2 of the hosts are ex-NYers the others just love the city like we do.

Feeling Horny...
I was never a big fan of the whole having antlers mounted on the wall craze. Unless you're an actual hunter I think they just look silly.However, there's always the exception and this is it for me.

Loving...
I've been wanting to get new lamps for the living room but the ones I find I like are so incredibly expensive I've been shuffling my feet. Since our home is very old I was looking for something classic but not frumpy. I stumbled upon these and I think they will make an elegant looking addition to our living room. Aged Brass Table Lamp
Aged Brass Floor LampThey're from the Canopy Collection at WALMART! The floor lamp was originally $64.88 and is now $47-. The table lamp was originally 39.97 and is now $34-
I almost fell over. I've only seen them online so my only concern is the lamp shade but, for this price if the shade looks chintzy I can replace it, right? I'm also assuming that you can't adjust the height as the knob would suggest. It's most likely just decorative and fixed into place but that's not a big deal to me. I'm spazzing a bit over how happy I am to have found these and at these prices. Thanks Walmart!

Must Have...
O.k...I have a long standing love/hate relationship with coasters. They're a necessary evil. Yes, evil. why? I always find these gorgeous coasters bring them home put my drink down and inevitably the coaster fails me.
The wood ones didn't have an edge and the liquid ran right off them and under them leaving rings on my furniture.
The marble ones conducted the cold of the drink so well the bottom of the coaster had the same condensation the glass did and was soaking wet.
The leather ones? They looked cool the day I brought them home and looked like trash after one use.
The cork ones? They just have that fugly 1970's vibe
So far the only ones I've seen do the job properly are the pressed paper coasters the bartender slaps down under your beer at a bar. That's why my heart sang when I saw these letterpress coasters by 12fifteen.
Chic, functional, and can be recycled once they've outlived their usefulness without guilt because at $12.00 for 8 they're really economical.
