I'm Back!

I'm back and boy do I have so much catching up to do!

I wanted to share two things that were a godsend to me while soaking up the rays during my vacation. I practically grew up at the beach so I know all too well the importance of caring for my skin while indulging. I'm particularly cautious with my face but have had many issues with sunscreens that are supposed to be designed for use on the face burning and stinging my skin. Particularly around my eyes. Since I'm a huge fan of the acne fighting line at Mario Badescu Skin Care I decided to give two of their sun-care products a try.I would highly recommend both the Eye and Lip Sunscreen and the After Sun Cooling Gel. Both lived up to my expectations and neither irritated my skin. The After Sun Cooling Gel was particularly refreshing. I did also try the sunscreen meant for the body but honestly, save your money. It didn't preform any better or worse that the drug store variety. So if you're planning on spending some time in the sun consider giving them a try.

Can't Live Without...

Herbacin Chamomile Hand Cream.

It combines the healing properties of natural chamomile extracts, the caring substances of glycerin plus the protection of silicon.

The fact is it works great. It's not greasy and the tin is perfect for slipping into your purse without the fear of having the lotion leak out because it's a soft solid!

Love it!

Mario Badescu Skincare

Mario Badescu has been around since 1967 and has developed quite the cult following which includes many celebrities (just look at this client list). Although they handle every skincare type and need one of their specialties is acne fighting. I think most of us have suffered from it at some stage in life, or on a 'monthly' basis like I have a tendency to.

I'm lucky enough to live near the Spa and can go to get facials massages and the like. I love the no frills attitude they have. I don't like a lot of muss and fuss. There products are not packaged in fancy bottles. The product is the star not the packaging. Simply put, THEY WORK! The pricing is also remarkably reasonable (no animal testing either).

I happened to find this Mario Badescu Travel Skin Care Kit available exclusively at Nordstroms for $28- These are some of my favorite top-selling acne products packaged together in one special travel sized kit. It's a great way to try them without committing to full sized bottle purchases.

Set includes:
- Full-size Drying Lotion (1 oz.).
- Full-size Anti-Acne Serum (1 oz.).
- Travel-size Acne Facial Cleanser (2 oz.).
- Deluxe sample size Oil Free Moisturizer SPF 17 (0.01 oz.).
- Deluxe sample-size Healing Cream (0.01 oz.).
- Deluxe sample-size Drying Mask (0.10 oz.).
- Soft body shower sponge for the shower.

You can pre-order it now. It will begin to ship July 17th.

Excuse Me Sir, Do You Have Any Grey Poupon?

No but, I do have Dr. Singha's Mustard Bath!

In traditional medicine, mustard is renowned for its stimulating, cleansing and rejuvenating qualities. The warmth of mustard gently opens pores and assists in the elimination of impurities.

The bath contains certified organic mustard seed powder, essential oils of eucalyptus, rosemary, wintergreen & thyme and gum benzoin in a base of Sodium Carbonate.

All I know for sure is that if I'm sore or under the weather a good soak in this usually makes me feel a whole lot better.

Dr. Singha's Mustard Bath is available here.

Are You A Sinner or Saint?

The Lipstick Queen, Poppy King started her own lipstick brand in 1992 in Melbourne Australia. She had just turned 18 and couldn't find any lipsticks she liked. She wanted lipsticks that gave her the look of the 1940’s- rich, opaque and filled with pigment. Everything was thin, slimy and too greasy feeling. There were no deep colors or browns. Most reds went pink. So, on a whim she found manufacturers to mix up some lipsticks, a business partner and the nerve to approach a few stores. It became a run away success!

I have been a devotee of the opaque Sinner Red since it's debut. I have yet to find a comparable product that offers the saturation of color and rich texture. If you prefer a lighter look on your lips you can try the Saints collection. How beautiful is the packaging? Stunner.

The difference? The Saints are sheer and have only 10% pigment in them to give you a hint of the color whereas the Sinners are 90% pigment and opaque in texture.

Although she sells them directly through her website they are frequently sold out. I recommend picking them up in store or online at Barneys New York.
