The TownhouseBaby
I want to send a special thanks to those of you that emailed me wondering where I'd been and if I was alright.
I hope you'll all excuse my absence for a little bit while I dote on her every whim (and if you wouldn't mind excusing my "look" in the photo at left I'd appreciate it!).
Much love- The TownhouseLady

Happy Father's Day
Dad,
You're my rock. Even though you had two little girly girls you showed us that anything was possible. You taught us how to...
tackle any obstacles standing in our way,
build something from nothing,
the importance of taking time out for goofy fun,
but most of all you showed us love. Lot's and lot's of love
(even on Christmas morning with zero sleep after staying up all night to put together the toys "Santa" got us)!

Chocolate Espresso Cookies
for K.O...
Ingredients

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 4 teaspoons instant espresso
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, room temperature
- 2/3 cup packed light-brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 4 ounces bittersweet or semisweet chocolate, melted and cooled
- 1 tablespoon milk
- 1/2 cup confectioners sugar, for coating
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa, espresso, baking powder, and salt. With an electric mixer, beat butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg until well combined; mix in cooled chocolate. With mixer on low speed, gradually add dry ingredients; beat in milk just until combined. Flatten dough into a disk; wrap in plastic. Freeze until firm, about 45 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper. Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Place confectioners' sugar into a medium bowl; working in batches, roll balls in sugar twice.
- Place balls on prepared baking sheets, 2 inches apart. Bake, rotating sheets halfway through, until cookies have spread and coating is cracked, 12 to 14 minutes; cookies will still be soft to the touch. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Happy Mothers Day
An ounce of mother is worth a pound of clergy.
~Spanish Proverb

Mom, we love you.
(Please don't kill me for using this picture)
Also, a special mother's day shout out to my Mother In Law. Your son and I always talk about how we both hit the jackpot. We love you.
To all the moms out there. Whether your babies be human or furry in nature like mine. Enjoy your special day.

Now THAT's a babka!
I was going through some photos and came across this one (I'm the cute chick on the right). Surprisingly, I remember this day. My mom is an amazing cook but she particularly loves baking. My dad went out and got her Kitchen Aid Mixer. It was a big deal because money was never in abundance and this was a big splurge item. Well, of course she had to give it a test drive (results seen at left). Can't you just smell the fresh baked bread? Mom still has this mixer (30 yrs old!) and it still makes great bread. She brought over a loaf of potato bread two weeks ago and we savored every single slice.Love you mom!
