Oh, I am so sorry. He was a handsome devil wasnt he? I love his name as I lived in Japan for a while and was known as David-kun. I used to have a tabby just like him and her name was Gretchen. She was the best!
so sad. i am sorry townhouse family. did i read that right...23 years old?? what a life! tabbys rule the planet and universe.. hugs to you my friend..:(
I'm so sorry, THL. I know the heartache of losing a pet, myself. It is very hard. I can only imagine how much deeper it must hurt after having had J-Boy for 22 years... Holy crap!
I hope that your memories will help to console you, somewhat, at this difficult time*.
XO, Anthony
P.S. ~ That last paragraph sounds right off a freakin' Hallmark card, but the sentiment IS heartfelt and sincere.
*sniff, sniff* I'm so sorry, he really was quite the handsome boy! Reminds me of my Murray. What a long, wonderful life he had with you all. And how great it was that he was able to meet your precious little girl. My sweet kitty Toupee died before my girl was born and I wished they could have met (they are weirdly very similar in their feisty personalities - LOL)! RIP
Yeah, he was one of the good ones. It was obvious for some time that he was on the decline but was just too proud and stubborn to give in. Even with cancer, bad hips, and fluid filled ears he never stopped asking for food, always preened himself and right to the end was the social cat that came over to greet guests. Like with all other cats we'd had before we thought he'd tell us when he was ready to let go but never did. We eventually had to make the executive decision that with all he had going on he had to have been in awful pain and should go with dignity while he still had his faculties. We're quite sure that he knew what was going on and was relieved since he, quite notorious for being the worlds worst patient, didn't fight at all. He slipped away in my arms very peacefully. He gave us so much love and affection and while we miss him terribly we're so relieved to know he's no longer trapped in a failing body.
22 years is quite a run, but i know how much you feel the loss. i also know he appreciates your love for him, and is thankful you loved him enough at the end to not let him live in pain.

I'm so sorry. He looks like my Luigi. He was a happy cat, it's obvious.
